(Kronus is the equivalent of the Roman god Saturn in Greek mythology.) The name Iapetus comes from the Greek god (or Titan) Iapetus, who is a son of Uranus and Gaia, a brother to Kronus and the father of Atlas and Prometheus. There are many creation myths in the Roman and Greek world. However, the most popular of those creation myths starts with Chaos, the creator of all things, who produced Gaia (Earth). Gaia then produced Ouranos (Heavens). Both Gaia and Ouranos had many other offspring known as the Titans.
